Ireland Classic Car Tour – 2021

We have always been reluctant to organise an Irish for not wanting to just tick a box and move to another hotel, but we were persuaded by seasoned Backwater Tourers to use our successful format where we’re based in two good hotels and explore that area in depth visiting areas not normally covered. So after research to find to scenic areas that are not too far apart we decided to go on County Donegal the Connemara the Connemara in County Mayo. Both the hotels are picturesque locations but different.

Lough Eske Castle is set in the foothills of the Blue Stack Mountains in Donegal and The Lodge at Ashford Castle in Connemara.

On this 7 day/6 nights’ tour, which starts in County Donegal, you will be treated to beautiful scenery along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and yes we do drive the “Sky Road” in the Connemara and we have arranged classic Irish Dancing, and lunch at the scenic Ballynahinch Castle. A visit to Westport House and Kylemore Abbey and gardens.

Lough Eske Castle Hotel
Our first hotel stop is the Lough Eske Castle Hotel. It’s no surprise this 5-star hotel has been garlanded with praise as it offers marvellous service and hospitality. The hotel sits in a secluded estate in a splendid lakeside setting – on the shores of beautiful Lough Eske – surrounded by some of Donegal’s most rugged landscapes.

The Lodge at Ashford Castle
Our second hotel is an ideal base for visiting Connemara and voted No.2 Hotel in Ireland Condé Nast Awards 2018. Located next to Ashford Castle is set on 10 acres of grounds, overlooking Lough Corrib in Cong. This beautiful lakeside property has rooms equipped with the latest technology,
