An ‘Extra Day’ option
We are adding an extra day at the beginning of our tour at the Chateau d’Audrieu. There is so much to see in the area and to get the most from it we’re giving you the option of an escorted coach tour in the hands of a specialist guide which will take you to particular WW2 places of interest.
Mulbery B artificial Harbour: In front of the town of Arromanches, this engineering marvel, a harbor in kit was a key to the allied logistical effort in the first few weeks of the battle.
Pointe du Hoc: A German coastal gun battery on top of a 100ft high cliff. Assaulted by the 2nd US Ranger battalion in one of the most impressive and daring action of D-Day.
Omaha Beach: The largest of the five invasion beaches and the most difficult to take on D-Day. The violence of the assault on Omaha was made incredibly famous and vivid by the movie « Saving Private Ryan.
Normandy American Cemetery: The final resting place of 9386 American soldiers. One of the most beautiful and sobering site in Normandy.
Pegasus Bridge: We pass this we pass this iconic landmark on one of our runs who were the first liberators on D-Day on the fifth and sixth of June 1944.
Château d’Audrieu
This the first location near Bayeux.
Quintessentially French, this elegant 18th Century Chateau, set among exquisite formal gardens and rolling parkland, recalls the carefree gaiety of an earlier era. Listed as a historical monument since 1967, the Chateau is now an incomparably beautiful hotel offering the mouth-watering French cuisine, impeccable service and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
During the Second World War, the German army set up their headquarters here. The château has been listed as a historical monument since the 27th of December 1967.

Grand Hotel des Bains
This the second location near Locquirec.
Set in lovely seafront gardens the style and atmosphere of a clapboard New England inn at Locquirec. The hotel has wonderful views, best enjoyed from the tables set along the seafront avenue of trees in its formal gardens. The décor is superb. The sea before you is the only horizon with a terrace overlooking the sea, direct access onto the beach.
