Itinerary
Sunday 18th July
The tour starts from Portsmouth for the overnight sailing to St Malo. Once on board, we will meet for dinner in the ship’s a la carte restaurant, for a chance to meet your fellow tour participants. You have a large two berth cabin reserved on board.
Monday 19th July
On arrival into Brittany, it is a short drive to a lakeside breakfast stop, before a scenic D-road drive into the Loire. We have a stop at a private chateau for a guided tour and light lunch before heading to Chateau d’Artigny, where we have a four-night stay.
This fabulous chateau offers an authentic French stay combined with five-star luxury. Set amongst 25 acres of grounds, the chateau features a spa, outdoor pool and gastronomic restaurant. This evening, we will have welcome drinks, a briefing from your tour manager followed by a three-course dinner.
Tuesday 20th July
This morning, we will tour across to Chenonceau, where we have arranged special parking for our cars at the chateau. We will have a guided tour and coffee here. There is then free time to explore Amboise before meeting at the Chateau Clos-Luce, where we also have arranged special parking. This evening dinner is taken at the hotel.
Wednesday 21st July
After breakfast, we drive to Saumur, where there is time to explore the town, or the excellent tank museum before we board a traditional flat-bottomed boat for a cruise down the Loire with light lunch onboard. Thise afternoon you can choose to drive to Fontevraud to visit the fascinating Abbey or return to the hotel to relax. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Thursday 22nd July
We have a great cross-country route to Azay le Rideau for a chance to visit the chateau or simply have free time to explore the town. We then drive the short distance to Chinon to visit a wine producer where we have a light lunch organised. This evening, we enjoy a farewell cocktail arranged before a special dinner with accompanying wines.
Friday 23rd July
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and continue your journey home. Choose from the afternoon sailing from Caen to Portsmouth or take your time and take the overnight sailing on the same route.
