
Mosel and Rhine German Tour
13 - 22 June 2027
This tour takes you to the Mosel and Rhein valleys, a land of rivers and castles full of myths, legends and prestigious German wine producers. We include three nights in each region to truly enjoy and explore all there is to offer. On the journey out to the Mosel you overnight in the pretty town of Mons, with dinner included at a local restaurant. When the tour heads back to the UK from Germany, we stop in the Wallonia region of Belgium, where we have time to explore. We spend the final night of the holiday in Ypres, to experience the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, followed by dinner in the town. An emotive end to an epic tour.

Itinerary
Sunday 13th June
The tour departs from Folkestone on a morning ‘Le Shuttle’ crossing to Calais. We take the direct route to a hidden car collection in Belgium, for a light lunch and a visit. It is then a short drive to the pretty town of Mons. We stay in a former chapel and have dinner planned in a local restaurant.
Monday 14th June
Today, the route takes you over the border into Germany where you have a three-night stay at the Hotel Weisser Bar, situated on the banks of the Moselle. Enjoy views of the river, the hotel’s wellness centre, and delicious regional wines and dishes. This is also a perfect base to explore the Moselle region.
Tuesday 15th June
Today’s run allows for a later start, as we drive the short distance to Bernkastel-Kues, which is home to a fascinating car museum. From there, we will continue to follow the river passing the vineyards on the steep slopes. We have arranged a wine visit followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we will head back to Mulheim, going inland towards Wittlich and south through the Salm Valley towards Trier. Dinner is taken with the group at the hotel.
Wednesday 16thJune
Today we give the cars a rest and will be picked up by bus to go to Trier. Trier is said to be the oldest city in Germany, founded by the Roman Emperor Augustus around 16 BC. The town has many magnificent buildings,including the monumental gateway, the Porta Nigra, the largest Roman edifice on German soil, the Basilika and the Imperial Roman Baths. On the way back to the hotel, the bus will take us to a wine tasting, dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Thursday 17th June
Today we check out and head across country via medieval villages to the River Rhein. We will cross the river to reach our historic hotel, the Jagdschloss Niederwald near Rudesheim. Enoy the tranquillity, comfort and indoor pool. Dinner is in the hotel’s panoramic restaurant this evening.
Friday 18th June
We have a Rhein run planned today via various medieval villages, historic monuments and castles. There are many stopping points along the way to take in the sights or have a coffee or lunch. Dinner will be together in the hotel this evening.
Saturday 19th June
Today we have a wine visit, tasting and lunch, followed by some optional visits or the opportunity to return to the hotel to relax. Dinner will be together in the hotel this evening.
Sunday 20th June
Today we check out and begin our journey back towards the UK, albeit with two more overnights before we hit British soil. We cross into Belgium, where we have an afternoon stop at an artisan chocolatier for refreshments. We overnight in Marche en Famenne, where we can put the cars in their underground car park. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Monday 21st June
We have time to enjoy the Wallonia region this morning, as we drive via Dinant, and along the Meuse to a fabulous water garden. Having enjoyed nature and had a coffee we drive on to Ypres for our final evening. We will attend the ‘Last Post ceremony’ at the Menin Gate that evening, a must do experience that has taken place every day since the end of World War 1. We will then have a farewell dinner in Ypres that evening.
Tuesday 22nd June
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and continue your journey for your chosen crossing back to the UK.
